I think the current pandemic induced shutdown has thrown everything up in the air and therefore Dillon's status and team are yet to be determined. The Capitals only had $13mm in cap space to sign 7 players at an $84 million cap and it's even less now so he will probably play on a 1 year deal at a reduced rate and see where things land. He likes San Jose so maybe , just maybe he comes back but it's a longshot. He did play well with EK65 two seasons ago.

With no Dillon, you should re-sign Tim Heed. He has a very good shot and played better when given the opportunity and there was no DeBoer around. Burns/Simek played better 2 seasons ago and I'd pair Vlasic with Heed, leaving Ferraro and Karlsson as a higher risk offensive pair (although Burns is the highest D risk on the team)

Knyzhov may be an NHL ready D man soon ..he did play 3 games and didn't look out of place. Merkley isn't ready so perhaps Jacob Middleton is the other guy who is #7 or 8 D...

It will be an interesting off season when hockey resumes to see where things go the next 2-3 years salary cap wise..

Just seeing, you guys need younger LHD and McCabe going of the metrics was the 7th best Dman last couple years, might not give you much offense, but you already have Burns and Karlsson for that. But hey you guys keep going with all those 33 yr old or older defenseman signed for 4 or more years, with all that cap room.
